The Old Firm were a shadow of the team that has played some good rugby this season, going down lamely at Llantrisant, who were deserved winners of this Division 1 East Central match. Although Mount played with the slope in the first half, they hardly threatened the home line and had only two penalties from outside half Sam Withers to one by the Black Army to turn round just 6-3 up. After starting the second half with more enthusiasm, Withers kicked a 40 metre penalty to take the lead up to 9-3. From a turnover at a maul near half way, Llantrisant threw the ball wide into space and put their best handling movement of the game together to finish off a fine move with a try in the corner which reduced Mount’s lead to 9-8 after 56 minutes. With the home pack having the better of things, the home side went 14-9 up with two 25 metre penalties after further pressure in the Mount 22, and to seal their first win of the season, an interception pass was run in from 40 metres for a converted try.
