Mountain Ash Under 12s began the season away to their fierce rivals Abercwmboi. The game kicked off at 10 o’clock and was played out in front of a large crowd. The boys looked the part in their new kit (thank you to Paul Roberts for arranging sponsorship and Christian Roberts for working with Glebern sports).
The game started at a furious pace and it was evident that the hard work in preseason was paying off for The Young Firm. Quick ruck ball from the forwards and slick hands by the backs resulted in two tries. The lead was built on further after a successful forward drive resulted in another try, all converted.
Abercwmboi hit back after the break with a good try of their own. This spurred a reaction from the Mount boys and the backs benefitted from the mayhem caused by their forwards to run in another converted try.
A great result and start to the season that everyone wanted.
