Mountain Ash 2nd XV won the away leg of the Brunel Cup by scoring 5 tries in an evenly, well contested game in Caldicot. First half tries by hooker Jordan Howe, second row Tom Shortridge, and wing Sam Akintioye, two of which were converted by outside half Matthew Parfitt, who also kicked a penalty, gave Mount a 19-12 half time lead. Flanker Liam Attwell scored Mount’s fourth try, and then right on time, fellow flanker Kellan Williams got the fifth, Parfitt converting both to give Mount a 36-22 win. The home leg takes place on Saturday 30 March.
