Young Firm Win Local Derby

Mount made the short journey to Aberdare for their first league fixture, and playing into a strong wind started the game on the ascendancy with the forwards providing good quick ball and the Mount backs cutting through on a few occasions in the first 10 minutes but good Aberdare defence managed to keep Mount at bay.
Aberdare cleared their lines but again some dominant forward play from Mount again led to the Mount backs cutting through and from a lineout near Aberdares' try line the Mount forwards relentless pick and drive led to a try in the corner by prop McGinley Price.
From the kick off Mount again regained possession and took the ball into the Aberdare half and some more pressure led to a penalty and a well taken kick against the wind by outside half Jayden Pugh extended the lead to 8 nil.
The last 10 minutes of the first half were played in the Mount final 3rd but great defence and discipline kept Aberdare to zero.
Half time score, Aberdare 0 - 8 Mount.
The 2nd half started with neither team on top and play remained in the middle of the pitch, but Mount's scrum was on top, causing Aberdare problems and from one of these Mount produced a good attack with the full back slicing through but a last ditch tackle saved a certain try.
For the next 10 minutes Aberdare were camped in the Mount 22, using their big forwards but attack after attack was repelled by Mount's great defence and this led to a turnover and penalty and Mount clearing their lines.
From this penalty, a lineout and some good ball for the backs led to another good attack, and from a grubber kick Aberdare just managed to ground the ball to prevent another try. From the drop out 22 some frustration from Aberdare led to another well taken penalty from Pugh for Mount and increased the lead to 11 nil.
The final 10 minutes were dominant for the Mount defence as Aberdare tried but could not break through, and a late hit by Aberdare led to another well taken penalty kick by Pugh to leave visitors ending the game as deserved 14-0 winners.
