This was a midweek pre-season game played over three thirds.

The Young Firm started strongly and after constant pressure. A solid Mount scrum just inside the opponents half led to slick handling by the backs and a converted try under the posts. St. Albans came back into the game and after some pressure in Mount’s 22, went over for a try from a quick tap penalty.

The second third saw the Young Firm again start strongly, and after a big tackle in midfield followed by some aggressive counter rucking, Mount turned the ball over in their opponents 22, moving the ball through hands and scoring a well worked try in the corner. Mount’s discipline let them down after their try, and a few penalties for St. Albans led to them scoring a try at the end of the 2nd phase, to make it Mountain Ash 12:St Albans 14.

The 3rd and final phase saw Mount increase their intensity and pace on the game to finish very strongly with 3 excellent team tries scored by the backs after some great multiple phase play by the forwards led to quick clean ball from the forwards.
