After Merthyr scored from their first touch of the ball, the Young Firm got quickly on top, with the Mount backrow proving more than an handful for Merthyr, which led to Jarrad Morgan hitting a lovely angle 10 metres out to level the score.Mount started to dominate and scored a second through a strong sniping run by scrum half Morgan Cartwright who took a couple of Merthyr forwards over with him.The impressive flanker Owen Jenkins then took the game even further from Merthyr with a blistering break through the heart of the home defence to score a fine try under the posts to take the Young Firm into half time 21-7 up. The second half was a more level affair with Merthyr stepping up their game and Mount defending for long periods. There was no way through though for the young Ironment and from a 5 metres scrum, the ball was moved out for centre Keiron Hawkins to score under the posts to seal the game for the Young Firm, Fullback and captain, Jack Roberts, kicked the conversion, his fourth of the game, to make it 28-10 to Mount and a second win from three starts in the top division of the Blues Youth League.
