Event: Mountain Ash v Welsh Academicals on Saturday 5 May Serves Two Purposes....

05/05/2018 14:30

An attractive end of season fixture has been arranged for Saturday 5 May at Duffryn Pennar Park against the Welsh Academicals. The game will serve two purposes. It will commemorate the 90th season of the formation of the Welsh Academicals in Mountain Ash in 1927, and also raise funds for, firstly, former Welsh International prop forward, Paul Knight, who is suffering with multiple sclerosis, and secondly, a local charity. The Mount team will have a guest player, namely scrum half Paul Griffen, who has been capped 42 times by Italy. There will also be a fund-raising dinner in the clubhouse the night before, on Friday 4 May, which has been well supported by various sponsors and is already sold out. On Saturday, 5 May, Italian International, Paul Griffen, will also take a coaching session of the Mountain Ash RFC mini and junior rugby section at Duffryn Pennar Park from midday on. The game between the Old Firm and the Welsh Academicals will kick off at 2:30pm and then the after-match reception will take place as usual back at the clubhouse, and all supporters are welcome. The day will also be a fund raiser for Scottish International forward, Doddie Weir, who has motor neurone disease. Key rings, hats and balls will be on sale at the ground and in the club. Your support for the day is requested. Admission to the game is £3 for adults, £2.00 for senior citizens, with children admitted free if they are accompanied by an adult.
