1st XV

Division 1 East Central Playing Record

P.22, W.14, L.8, For 510, Tries Scored 67, Points Against 407.

 

Finished 4th in Division 1 East Central with a total of 65 points. Beat 2nd placed Ystrad Rhondda and 3rd placed Rhiwbina.

James Cowdry played his 200th 1st XV game for the Club in the 54-22 win at Llantwit Fardre, which was a game to remember. He scored a try, 5 were sent off and 3 more yellow carded in the 54-22 win.

 

9 boys from last year’s Youth team played for the 1st XV during the season. These were:

Jordan Howe,

Liam Attwell,

Liam Jones,

Sean Moore,

Will Holley,

Steve Brittain,

Tom Evans, and,

Tom Harper.

 

4 of this season’s Youth also played for the 1st XV:

Cory Roberts,

Daniel Cartwright,

Jordan Burke, and,

Jack Roberts.

 

Wings Curtis Williams and Samuel Akintioye, and second row Adam Parry, also made their debuts for the 1st XV during the season.

 

2nd XV

P.18, W.5, L.13

Although winning only 5 games, there were close defeats during the season to Penallta 2nd XV 23-19 in the Ivor Williams Cup and 12-10 in the League, and Dowlais 2nd XV 22-18 in the League. There was a 28-15 win over Abercynon, 33-0 over Ynysybwl and 46-17 against Llanharan 2nd XV.

 

Youth XV

P.33, W.20, D.3, L.10, For 599, Tries Scored 91, Points Against 457.

 

Got to the Welsh Youth Cup ¼ final, losing to Cowbridge Youth at Caedrawnant.

 

Got to the Heart of Wales Cup final for the 3rd consecutive season, losing in the last 2 minutes to Brecon Youth, 19-17.

 

Finished 5th out of 8 Clubs in Blues Division 1.

 

 

Mini & Junior Section

Team were run from Under 7s to Under 13s with 170+ children involved were run and another enjoyable, successful season took place. There were tours at the end of the season to Minehead, Weston and Pendine, and the Welsh Internationals Dan Biggar and Dan Lydiate have attended the two season presentation nights held, with one more to go. Thanks are due to all the Coaches, parents and volunteers who enable all this to take place and do such a superb job.
