Young Firm Win 2nd Local Derby In Fortnight

Mountain Ash Youth scored 4 tries in their 22-7 away win over local rivals, Abercynon Youth, which gave the Young Firm a second away local derby win in a fortnight. Abercynon had the better of the game in the first half and scored first through a charged down clearance kick which was also converted. Mount hit back with their best attack of the half which ended with a try in the corner by wing Rhys Davies. After an attack by Abercynon from a crossfield kick early in the second half, which let to an attack, which was well covered, the second half belonged to Mount, three more tries being scored by second row Kellan Williams, flanker Owen Jenkins and hooker Josh Davies. Mitchell Barnard and hooker Davies were prominent for Mount in a hard working performance, and scrum half Daniel Cartwright put in several nicely placed chips over the Abercynon defence to keep the pressure on the home team in the second half.
