Mountain Ash Mini and Junior's were proud to host a schools tag tournament today, at Dyffryn Pennar Park, Mountain Ash.

Seven local schools from our community attended:  Caegarw Primary, Darrenlas Primary, Glenboi Primary, Miskin Primary, Our Lady of Lourdes Primary, Perthcelyn Primary and YGG Abercynon,

They sent teams from years 5 & 6 to compete in a tag festival, played in line with the WRU's half a game initiative.

We were lucky enough to have representatives for the WRU present, our WRU coordinator Gavin Dacey attended, along with two apprentices and two students who helped referee games and we also had a visit from Cardiff Blues and Wales player Kristian Dacey.

Thanks must go to the mini and junior volunteer coaches and parents for taking time off work to run the event, which was agreed was thoroughly enjoyable, both for the organisers and players and teachers.

We hope to organise similar events in the future, as a way of re-engaging with our community schools and hopefully attracting new players.
