Mrs Val Hughes

It is with great sorrow that the Club reports the sad and untimely passing of Mrs Val Hughes. The Management Committee, players, coaches and staff at Mountain Ash RFC extend their sincere condolences to Val’s family and friends at this very sad time. Val passed away on Thursday 16th April at Ysbyty Cwm Cynon after a short illness. Many supporters will have known Val and her sons, Anthony and Mark, both of whom represented Mountain Ash RFC with distinction. Val would have been known by many people in Mountain Ash as a popular member of staff at William Hill Bookmakers in Oxford Street. She was rightly proud of her two sons whom she watched regularly when they donned the black and amber shirt of Mountain Ash RFC.

The funeral of Mrs Val Hughes will take place on Monday 4th May. We are sure everyone is aware of the unfortunate restrictions currently in place regarding attendance at funeral services, however the family have advised that the funeral cortège will leave from the house (in Arnold Street) at 11.20am following a short address by the priest. This will allow people to pay their respects whilst also observing the current social distancing guidelines.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to Velindre.
