Congratulations are extended to both Declan Conway and Will Holley, both of whom are two young backs in the Mountain Ash 1st XV squad. Declan played for the Welsh Academicals against Mountain Ash at Duffryn Pennar Park in the match played recently to commemorate the Accies’ 90th anniversary.
After playing for Crawshays at Youth level, and also being a member of the team which won the Lisbon Youth Rugby Festival in Portugal, Will Holley has been selected for Crawshays’ 7 day senior tour to Holland over Whitsun where two games will be played against the Netherlands national XV – one at Utrecht RFC and the other at Rugby Netherlands RFC in Amsterdam. Will warmed up for the tour with a try and 4 conversions against Burry Port RFC in a testimonial game on Saturday, 19 May.
This Saturday, 26 May, Mountain Ash Youth play Treorchy Youth in the final of the Blues Youth Cup at the Wern in Merthyr, kick off 1:30pm. All support welcome.
With both Declan and Will being recognised, and the Youth playing in a cup final for the fourth consecutive season, it just goes to show Mountain Ash RFC is as good a breeding ground for young talent as any club.
