Young Firm Never Beaten

Mountain Ash Youth were involved in a very exciting game in their game in Kenfig Hill where they fielded many of the promising youngsters in the squad. Mount started strongly and scored 2 tries by Tom Jenkins and Owen Jenkins. The home team hit back and capitalised on some poor Mount tackling to score 3 unanswered tries to take the lead 19-10. The game looked as if it was over, but it was anything but. With just 3 minutes to go, Mount sprung into life with some barn storming runs from backrow forward Owen Jenkins, who was unstoppable at times. Jenkins picked up at the back of one scrum and fed scrum half Morgan Cartwright who scored in corner. With two minutes to go, Mount took the restart and made their way up to Kenfig 22 where they knocked on. With the referee saying “last play”, Kenfig won the scrum, but scrum half Cartwright caught his opposite number for blind side flanker Daniel Towney Keogh to rip the ball off him and make 6 metres down the blindside. Although the home team got the ball back, they inexplicably threw the ball into touch on their own line. From the penalty awarded, scrum half Cartwright took a quick one which ended with centre Ethan Conway scoring under the posts to win an unbelievable game for Mount. There were promising performances from youngsters Ewan Jones, Ewan Rees and Dylan Davies, and Rhys Davies had an excellent game at centre.
