Cartwright Try Secures Win

This was a good old-fashioned mudbath in Treharris which Mount won with one of their best performances of the season. Both sides were indistinguishable after 10 minutes and it was the home side that dominated the first half but good defence by the Old Firm kept them out.

Mount dominated the second half, and with 15 minutes left, wing Daniel Cartwright peeled off from a driving maul 5 metres out to score the winning try in the corner. A superb conversion by full back Cory Roberts put Mount 7-0 up and it was a lead they were not to lose.

The win was Mount’s 6th from 9 games this season, with 252 points scored and just 76 conceded. The Mount team is playing some good stuff and they are currently top of the Rhondda and East Glamorgan Championship table, although there are at least half a dozen games still to play.

There is no game this Saturday, 30 November, due to Wales playing the Barbarians. On Saturday 7 December, Ystrad Rhondda 2nd XV visit Duffryn Pennar Park for a Rhondda and East Glamorgan Championship game, kick off 2:30pm.
