Mountain Ash Youth travelled to local rivals Abercwmboi for the first league game of the season. The Young Firm have always enjoyed great battles against their near neighbours and this game was no different. The Young Firm started really well, and through great back play took play to within five metres of the Abercwmboi try line. Two further phases from the forwards saw prop Owen Davies crash over from short range. Mount then launched another back move that saw play move into the Abercwmboi 22. A great angle of run saw prop Tommy Hunt burst through to score the Young Firm's second try. In the second half Mount continued to dominate and went further ahead. After a great lineout move, prop Tommy Hunt charged over for his second try of the game. Mount had two tries further tries disallowed before they launched a counter attack from their own 22 that saw backs and forwards combining to send winger Declan Williams over in the corner. A great start to the Cardiff Rugby Cup for the Young Firm.
