The Old Firm played against the slope and crosswind in the first half of this Division 1 East Central game in Dinas Powys and held their own throughout other than a Dinas lineout throw on the Mount 22 not being taken by either side and a home forward seizing the loose ball to sprint to the line where he passed to a supporting player for a converted try. It was the only score of the first half and left Dinas 7-0 up at the break.

Mount got off to a terrible start to the second half, conceding a converted try within a minute of the kick off and then another four minutes later to trail 21-0 after 45 minutes play. A crossfield kick on the hour led to a bonus point try for Dinas and a 26-0 lead, but with 15 minutes left, centre Alex Hughes got over from close-in for Mount’s only try of the afternoon, converted by outside half Liam Jones. Replacement prop James Cowdry nearly added a second try but that was the end of the action, leaving Dinas with their first win of the season and deserved winners on the day.

This Tuesday, 29 October, Rhydyfelin visit the Rec in the 1st round of the Mid District Cup, kick off 7:15pm.
