The problems in 2nd XV and lower league rugby were illustrated last week when three opposition teams pulled out of their game against Mountain Ash 2nd XV. Early in the week, Aberdare 2nd XV cancelled Saturday’s game (14 September) because of a lack of players. On Thursday, Caerphilly 2nd XV were looking for a home game which Mount agreed to, but within 24 hours, they also pulled out, once again due to a lack of players. Following this, on Friday, a game was arranged with Division 3 East Central C club Llanrumney. This one lasted until 11:15am on Saturday when, once again, a lack of players saw the game cancelled. This Saturday, 21 September, Mount hope that Nelson 2nd XV will be able to fulfil their Rhondda and East Glamorgan Championship fixture at Duffryn Pennar Park, kick off 2:30pm.
