Young Firm Dominate League Game

The Young Firm were well worth their Blues League Premier division away win to Merthyr with the Mount pack dominating the game and Owen Jenkins back to his best after a knee operation. He made some barnstorming runs as did his brother Ryan, Mitchell Barnard, Keiran Coomer and Darren Howe. Wave after wave of Young Firm attacks eventually took its toll and centre Jamie Long went over for the first try of the night. Shortly after, he scored his second with another great step to go under the posts which made the score 12-3 at half time.

Mount were soon back on the attack straight from the kick off with right wing Rhys “potchy” Williams making a couple of great runs, the second of which culminated in him going 40 metres for a great score in the corner. Straight from the restart, centre Jarrod Cushion ran almost the length of the field through most of the Merthyr team to score a wonderful try which made it 22 -3 with 25 minutes left, with the Young Firm in total control of the game. It didn't quite work out as expected with Mount conceding penalty after penalty. In the last minute, Merthyr scored a try to finalise the scoring. Another good win for the Young Firm and their third League win from four starts. The Young Firm travel to Pencoed on Saturday, 29 September, kick off 2:30pm.
