Four Tries for Young Firm In Local Derby Win

The Young Firm scored four tries at the Rec to convincingly win this Blues Youth League Division A local derby. Although outgunned for most of the game, Aberdare kept going to the last, making Mount work for every score. Centre Jamie Long led the way for Mount with two tries, scrum half Morgan Cartwright got one and also kicked a penalty and two conversions, and centre Jarrod Cushion also showed his kicking skills with two conversions. The Young Firm gave a first start to new recruit Ryan Jenkins at flanker and he capped a fine all-round performance with a try. All in all, it was a good performance by the Young Firm, with No.8 Owen Jenkins impressing on his return to the fray after a bad knee injury. Second row Mitchell Barnard also had an excellent game, full back Jack Thomas showed a lovely step and was strong in defence, and prop Connor Tedstone gave 100% and did a lot of unsung work around the field. At the aftermatch presentations, scrum half and captain Morgan Cartwright was voted Man of the Match. Next up for the Young Firm is an away Blues Youth League game against Merthyr Youth next Saturday, 22 September, kick off 2:30pm
