Mountain Ash Youth were dogged by injuries throughout this match. Influential players Morgan Cartwright and Morgan James had to leave the field, Cartwright with a dislocated shoulder. All in all, the changes took their toll, Merthyr winning 27-17. Team captain Cameron Davies scored a sensational try when he picked up from a scrum on halfway, broke several tackles and side stepped a few would-be tacklers to score the try of the match.
